Trinity School Joins Leading UK Schools Group

20th November 2019

Trinity School in Teignmouth has been purchased by a leading UK Schools Group, Alpha Schools. This is the result of an in-depth review carried-out by the incumbent Governing Body into the long-term strategy for the historic school.

Simon Brookman, Chair of Governors at Trinity explains "During the fortieth year of Trinity the Governors took the serious and decisive move to ensure that our beloved school continues to deliver a rich and rounded education to all its students well into the future."

"It is an open secret that some of our fellow independent schools have encountered hardships in recent years and some have unfortunately faltered or failed. The strength of our provision has meant we have confidently avoided this trend to date and we are delighted to have secured this exciting and bright next chapter for Trinity with Alpha Schools at the helm."

Alpha Schools was founded in 2003 by Mr Ali Khan and has grown to be one of the largest operators of Independent Schools in the UK. With over a decade of Headship behind him, Mr Khan is very familiar with the day-to-day experience of running a school and has blended this practical experience with business acumen to develop a collection of impressive schools:

"In our profession, one develops a sixth-sense for schools! So it did not take long to realise that Trinity is a special place indeed. My team and I are thoroughly looking forward to working with the Headmaster and his staff to make Trinity the very best it can be."

Alpha are currently riding high on the Sunday Times announcement that their St Martin’s Preparatory School, has topped the national league table in the Parent Power Schools Guide for 2020. With this pedigree, it is compelling to regard the governors’ strategy as very astute!

Headmaster, Lawrence Coen: "I am personally looking forward to being part of a team of schools and forging strong links with the other Headteachers. Most importantly, for children, staff and parents, it will very much be ‘Trinity as usual’; the culture and ethos of our school will not change. Nevertheless, it is clear that the schools we join enjoy significant successes and it will be a real advantage for Trinity to learn from differing approaches whilst also sharing what we do so very well."

Trinity School is a Co-Educational Independent Day School and Boarding School for children between the ages of 3 and 18 located in Teignmouth. For further information please call 01626 771522 or email enquiries@trinityschool.co.uk.
