The Big Sleep Out - Eden Project

A group of four Lower Sixth pupils and Mrs Atkins attended The Big Sleep Out event at the Eden Project earlier this month as part of a collaboration with the Amber Foundation – a life chances charity supported by the school.
On a freezing evening the pupils attended talks and workshops based on homelessness before sleeping rough for the night with other young people. They were moved and inspired by the event and they return to be mentors for a project in school next term.
Their experience meeting homeless people of all ages and from all backgrounds reminds us just how fragile life is – a few unlucky life chance cards can swing things from normal to desperate. The work of St. Petrocs in Exeter and the Amber Foundation across the country drives this point home and reminds us how lucky we are and of what we can do to support their good work as a community.
