Successful trading experience for students' new business
6th January 2016
A group of enterprising 6th Formers have been trying out their new business idea on shoppers in Exeter.
The team comprising students Sophie Riley, Ben Greenwell, Alex Horswill, Emilie Cole, Tom Muckian, Anna Summerscales, Lucy Almond, Diggory Puyol, Henry Keate, Sennen Pappin, and MC Bell formed earlier this year school year to compete in the national Young Enterprise competition, which is aimed at encouraging young people to form and run their own business for a year.
Recently the student entrepreneurs attended the Trade Fair at Princeshay Shopping centre in Exeter to market their 'Rework' business to the general public and to showcase a range of upcycled products and innovations which they have created.
The pupils had to cope with very demanding weather conditions which meant that they were unable to erect their full trade stand for safety reasons, but despite this they pulled together extremely well as a team and came away with takings of £217. There next trading opportunity will come on Saturday 5th March at another Young Enterprise trading event at Darts Farm near Exeter. They will also begin trading at school very soon.
