Prep 6 ‘Evacuees’ head for Dawlish
11th March 2016
Prep 6 dressed as evacuees and headed on the train to Dawlish. They were met by Dawlish Museum officials and a land-girl and marched to the museum. The class were introduced to museum volunteers and ‘real’ evacuees who explained what life was like from school, rationing, games to the bombings. After writing postcards home to their parents the pupils then went on a guided tour of the town to see what changes there have been since the war. They then boarded the train home and were met by their parents to round off a brilliant trip and experience for all. Many, many thanks to all staff at Dawlish Museum for their time and wisdom, in particular Mr and Mrs Wright for their time in organising such a fantastic day.
