First ever Careers Fair a big success
7th March 2019
Our first Careers Fair was a great success with almost all students from Year 8 to Upper Sixth attending as well as over 100 parents. This was the climax of the students’ careers work leading up to this event and National Careers week. In lessons, teachers have explored careers in their field, inspiring the students to open their eyes to possibilities after school.
On Monday we welcomed 26 employers covering over 35 sectors of industry. The event held in the Salle had an electric atmosphere and already plans for 2020 will need to consider more space! Feedback from students, parents and employers alike were very positive. One regional employer responded saying, the students were “very motivated” and that the school was “clearly looking to ensure the Trinitonians are prepared for life when they leave”. Others remarked on their preparation and politeness of Trinitonians at the event.
The focus of the event varied between Key Stages with the youngest having their first interaction with adults from the world of work, while the older students are shaping their Sixth Form, University or Apprenticeship pathways.
Student feedback was very informative and mirrors our reflective approach to all aspects of school life. They asked for more time with employers with many commenting on how inspiring they were, naming them specifically in their responses.
This has also be a wonderful networking opportunity for students who have been given offers of Work Experience in the future as well for the employers who made new links with others at the event.
A big thank you to all our visiting employers for their time and inspiration as well as the student body who approached the event with maturity and embraced the opportunity they were given.
