Senior Department Music
Trinity School
Back to Senior Subjects
Welcome to Senior Music
Trinity School offers a wide range of facilities centred in the Wolfson Music Centre,
a large teaching and rehearsal room. The Director of Music and a team of visiting
specialists offer a very wide range of instrumental, vocal and ensemble tuition.
Aims & Curriculum
The Music Department aims to realise the students' full musical potential via and
extensive repertoire of experiences and perspectives. Students work as a class,
in groups or individually as best suits the task being undertaken.
A general course taught at Key Stage 3 leads smoothly into GCSE for those who wish
to take this option in Key Stage 4. Music is also offered at A level.
For those who do not wish to study music as an academic subject but nevertheless
wish to learn an instrument, there is a wide range of tuition available for
individuals and for ensembles catering for all styles and genres. Live performance
is thriving at Trinity!
Musical events are organised throughout the year. The Chamber Choir performs sacred
and secular music from our Carol Services in Exeter Cathedral to performances of
works such as Carmina Burana, Mozart's Requiem and Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man
in conjunction with our local Choral Society. Our Swing Band has toured Europe for
several years and regularly plays in the local community and for charity events.
Closely linked to the Drama Department, our musicians provide the principal roles,
members of the chorus and the 'band' in our performances at the Charlton Theatre,
Teignmouth. Recent successes include productions of Grease, Fame, Little Shop of
Horrors and Bugsy Malone.
Exam Results
GCSE:
Results are now consistently more than 2 standard deviations above national norms,
showing that pupils perform way above expectations. In 2008 they included 1A*, 5A,
2B, 3C.
