Welcome to Senior Geography
The Geography department believes that the subject should be taught through direct
experience of the real world as well as classroom instruction. Enthusiastic staff
with a wide variety of experience ensure that the subject is brought to life and
that results are outstanding.
Topics and Aims & Curriculum
Pupils, aged 11 to 14 years, follow a Geography Course at Key Stage 3 (Years 7 -
9). This covers a range of Physical, Human and Environmental Topics as well as Geographical
Skills and Enquiry Techniques.
In Year 10, pupils have the opportunity to take a two-year course at GCSE Level
(AQA Specification 'A'). As part of this course there is a residential field course
week on the Isle of Arran, off the west coast of Scotland.
Geography is a popular subject in the School with two sets at GCSE level and a growing
number of pupils following the subject at Advanced Level.
GCSE Results
The department consistently adds value to students results, up to 3 standard deviations
above the norm in a recent peak period. Grades in 2008 include 2A, 6B, 3C.
