Beyond the Classroom
We know that the more opportunities for success that children enjoy across the school day, the more successful they will be in the classroom. We are committed to providing as much variety of high quality activities as possible: choir, forest school, fixtures, residential visits and clubs that take place in the local community. Forest School is part of the weekly timetable for our younger children, whilst older pupils can enjoy it at club time and during Life Skills.
Every day starts with an assembly in Oakley Hall with a variety of visitors and styles of reflection and celebration.
The Preparatory Department offers a range of after-school activities from Monday to Friday. These are planned to appeal to a wide range of tastes. Almost all of these are run by teachers and are free of charge. Those run by members of the community require a small charge for their time. Clubs may vary according to the season but during the year include:
Tennis, Cricket, Rugby, Football, Skiing, Hockey, Dance, Lawn Bowls, Swimming, Sailing
Chess, Debating, Trading Cards, Puzzles, Lego, Library, Green Screen (film-making)
Make & Create, Drama, Music Making, String Ensemble, Glee
You can view and apply for the available clubs for Autumn Term 2015 from the links below:
In addition to after school clubs, Swimming squad is held in the mornings before school starts, and Chamber Choir is held during lunchtimes.
Should you be unable to pick up your child for whatever reason, even if not booked into a club, we can of course ensure they enjoy their time until you are able to get to school. Please call our secretary, Lisa, on 01626 771515 and let her know of any change of plan, so we can make any necessary arrangements.
