AIMS

At Trinity the PE Department aims to achieve the following:

• To provide each student with a physical education experience based on active participation and enjoyment.

• To enable pupils to acquire and develop physical skills appropriate to their age and ability and to encourage them to fulfil their potential in any particular activity through the application of skills, tactics and compositional ideas.

• To develop a knowledge and understanding of human performance through participation in a range
of physical activities and to develop an appreciation of performance through evaluation of themselves and others.

• To foster creativity and an awareness of aesthetics through knowledge and understanding of movement skills.

• To develop qualities of self -control, courage, co-operation and a competitive spirit in both individual activities and team games.

• To develop acceptable social and sporting attitudes, including the wearing of correct, clean kit, and the development of good personal relationships based on mutual trust, consideration and caring.

• To develop an appreciation of the relationship between physical activity, health and quality of life and so encourage pupils to improve their own level of fitness and to participate in physical exercise in leisure time and after leaving school.

• To enable each pupil to experience personal success and to develop a fuller understanding of themselves thus leading to increased confidence and self-respect.

• To provide opportunities for pupils to study physical education in greater depth through the provision of GCSE and AS / A2 courses and examinations.
