Transitions Through Nursery
Trinity School
We believe that smooth transitions are essential for everyone’s wellbeing. We therefore
aim to make all transition times as stress free and happy as possible for everyone
concerned.
When your child first joins us at Trinity Nursery we will discuss with you and agree
a settling in procedure to suit your needs. Before moving to the next stage within
the Nursery the children will be taken for visits by their Keyperson so that the
transition is a gradual one. Because of our close working links with the School
and, in particular, the
Reception Class,
the transition to the
Trinity
Preparatory Department
is also a very smooth one.
During regular visits to the
Reception Class,
Nursery 3 children become familiar with the staff and surroundings of the
Prep
Department. As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage the
Reception Class
continues to build on the skills developed in the Nursery and the children will
be familiar with many of the teaching methods such as Golden Rules, Jolly Phonics
and Cursive writing.
Throughout the year, parents are able to visit the
Reception Class,
see it in action and discuss with the very experienced teacher the wealth of opportunities
offered. Nursery 3 children particularly enjoy music and movement sessions with
the Prep drama teacher and working on large scale art projects in the
Prep Art Department.
All nursery parents are automatically members of the
Trinity
PTA
and a range of social events throughout the year encourages everyone to become
involved in the life of the School. All of the activities ensure that, by the time
the children move to the
Reception Class,
the whole family feel at ease within the School surroundings, ensuring an enjoyable,
stress free transition for everyone.
