Year 7 - Giving Nations
As part of Trinity’s involvement in the Giving Nation’s project Year 7 pupils were given the challenge to not only raise awareness of the work of the British Heart Foundation but also to raise funds for this charity. The pupils were divided into six groups and had a limited amount of time in a PHSME lesson and a Curriculum Enrichment session to produce an information display and plan their sponsored skip. As part of their fundraising scheme ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ the British Heart Foundation had provided the school with a number of skipping ropes, a CD, sponsor forms and an information pack. Consequently on 24th June the Year 7 raised a fantastic total of £872.54, mainly as a result of their sponsored skip but also with a ‘wear red’ mufti day and by pupils voting, with their money, as to which information display they thought the best. The Prep 5 and 6 pupils were invited along first and after they had spent a while carefully evaluating the information displays they joined in the skipping before going to lunch. The older students from the Senior Department then visited the skipping area and were soon keen to join in. Under the supervision of some great Sixth Formers and with the help of the students and plenty of staff, each of the six groups managed to keep skipping going in their area for a whole hour – no mean feat considering the hot sunny day. Everyone who got involved really enjoyed the event as they learnt more about the British Heart Foundation whilst doing some healthy exercise!
