CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS FOR SENIOR TRINITY GIRL

Anne Reischmann, a sixth form student at Trinity School, Teignmouth has just become the Independent Schools Association’s Senior Girls National Cross Country Champion. She travelled to Princethorpe College in Warwickshire, along with 26 other pupils from Trinity School who were all representing the South West. The course at Princethorpe is always tough with a long hill up to a ridge but the weather this year was good and Anne saw off the opposition during the climb to win comfortably. Not only did she become National ISA Champion but her performance was recognised as one of the best of the day as she was awarded the Cheatle Group Runner Up Outstanding Individual Performance.Despite the long journey and demanding race the following day saw Anne competing for Devon Senior Girls at the Western Counties Championships at Taunton Race Course. Despite the much flatter course and no recovery time she once again competed well coming 4th for Devon and securing her selection to represent Devon at the English Schools competition to be held near Loughborough at the end of March.Anne is not only a great runner she is also a swimmer and loves competing in duathlons. Based in Ravensburg, Germany, she is a boarder at Trinity School, studying A levels to improve her English. Although she is only in England for two terms (so as not to disrupt her education in Germany), Anne has amazed everyone with her high academic and sporting standards. She has certainly made the most of the opportunities at Trinity School training regularly with the swimming squad before school and travelling to Exeter Arena to train with Exeter Harrier’s under the direction of Trinity’s athletics coach James Atkinson.
