Trinity School Arts day
A very exciting and creative event took place at Trinity School just before half term. The very first Trinity School Arts day was held on Friday 24th October.
This day was designed to improve links with Trinity School and the surrounding local Primary Schools and give students the opportunity to come together on a creative project.
Sixty eight children in year five from Hazeldown Primary School, Our Lady and St Patrick and Trinity Preparatory School were invited to take part in lots of activities based on the theme of the ocean.
The day started energetically with the students arriving from their different schools. Every child who attended the day was given a t-shirt which would form a costume for the final performance. The students all had a chance to decorate and individualise the t-shirts with fabric crayons. They looked fantastic and it was lovely that the students all had something to take home as a reminder of all the fun they had during the day!
The students had the opportunity to work with the different Creative Arts teachers at Trinity during three workshops. They created props and head bands in an art workshop with Patrick Cairns ( Head of Art- Senior) and Alan Webber( Head of Art- preparatory). The students were taught a song with Nigel Crabtree ( Head of Music- Senior) and Nigel Birt ( Head of Music – preparatory) and with Fenella Townsend( Head of drama and Arts day co-ordinator) and Julia Ward( Head of Drama- preparatory) the students were taught simple choreography. At the end of the afternoon all the different elements were put together in a fantastically energetic performance in front of parents and friends who were invited to see the finished result.
It was a really wonderfully positive day. All the staff and students worked extremely hard and created a wonderful performance after a very short amount of time. All the students left feeling like they had made lots of new friends from different schools and had taken part in something special.
