HMS ALBION
Eight lucky cadets from the Combined Cadet Force, Trinity School, Teignmouth recently enjoyed a 2-day passage from Devonport to Liverpool on HMS ALBION, the school’s Affiliated Ship, the first in the class of Royal Navy Landing Platform Dock Ships (LPD). They were accompanied by their Contingent Commander Lt Cdr Geraldine Poulet-Bowden RNR and her husband Lt Gérard Poulet RNR who runs the RN Section.
The group was transported by Royal Marines on Landing Craft from the Naval Dockyard in Plymouth into the docking area of HMS ALBION as the ship was moored just inside Plymouth breakwater. Despite high winds in the Irish Sea, senior naval cadet Leading Hand Matthew Smith said: “The gentle rolling motion of HMS ALBION gave me the best two nights’ sleep I have ever had!”
At the invitation of the Commanding Officer Captain KEBLE RN, the cadets were on the Bridge as HMS ALBION navigated the Mersey and docked beside the Royal Liver Building.
