Year 7 Visit Skern Lodge
Within a few weeks of starting at Trinity School Senior Department all the new Year 7 pupils went away together on a special activity weekend. They left school on Friday afternoon and travelled to Appledore, North Devon to spend the weekend at Skern Lodge Activity Centre. Aided by the superb late summer weather they had a fantastic time surfing, climbing and abseiling, being challenged on the high ropes and assault course and going on a night walk. Whilst having fun together they not only made new friends but also learnt to help and support each other when the going got tough. Working together was an important part of the team challenges and problem solving exercises and by the end of the weekend, although absolutely shattered from the fresh air and exercise, they returned as a cohesive group of young people ready to move on in the classroom. The whole experience was a great start to their curriculum enrichment and the lessons they learnt about evaluating what they had achieved, why they were successful and how they could do better next time is all part of their learning to learn programme.
