Philip Jones (Head of Department & Head of Key Stage 4)

Educated at Pangbourne College, Berkshire, Philip studied History at King Alfred’s College, Winchester, specialising in Early Modern, Pre-Industrial, Industrialisation and Historiography (the study of the development of Historical thought). He worked in industry for five years before working at Ardingly College for five terms, teaching History and English as well as running a L6th Boarding House and several sports teams. He then studied for a PGCE in Secondary History and English at the University of Gloucestershire before taking up a teaching post at Bedford Modern School in 1995, teaching History from Year 7 - 13 and Government and Political Studies at Advanced Level as well as English at Key Stage 3. He was also heavily involved in games (i/c Hockey, 2nd XI Cricket coach, 3rd XV Rugby coach) and CCF including the running of a Royal Marines detachment.

Philip moved to Trinity School in September 2000 in order to take up the post of Head of History. Subsequently he has also taken on the role of Assistant Head of Sixth Form and is also 2 i/c Army section, CCF, a Year 12 Tutor and Boarding Tutor. He has run many Senior Department ski trips and has also led a Battlefields Trip to Belgium and Northern France.

Philip enjoys cricket, rugby (sadly, spectating only due to injury) and has recently taken up competitive swimming and triathlon – In recent years he has completed a Half Ironman Triathlon: 1.2 miles swim, 56 miles bicycle, 13.1 miles run.

Sarah Jennings

Sarah joined Trinity in September 2004 having taught History at Westlands Bilateral School across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and where she was promoted to Head of History. She enjoys looking after her young children, enjoys church life and therefore was pleased to take up a part time position at Trinity School. She also enjoys reading, swimming, amateur dramatics and visiting places of historical interest. Sarah has examined for the OCR examination board up to GCSE level.
