Key Stage 3
In key stage 3 Drama we aim to develop student’s confidence, self control and creativity. We do this teaching theatrical conventions and techniques through varied and stimulating schemes of works. Year 7 schemes of work are linked to stories and story telling. Year 8 students follow more historical schemes of work which helps students to empathise with people from the past. Year 9 schemes of work tend to deal with social issues and challenge students to form educated opinions.

At Trinity we offer students the option to take a GCSE in Drama at the end of year 9. This is an extremely popular option amongst our students. Through the two year course the GCSE Drama students will develop many important social and creative skills needed to become confident, successful adults. They will understand the importance of working together to solve problems and they will learn how to become effective communicators. The course is divided into three parts.
Unit 1 : Students study three plays and in a small group create a polished improvisation based on one of them. Students have to create a portfolio which explains the devising process.
Unit 2: Students are given a piece of stimulus material and in small groups they have to create a polished piece of improvisation based on it. Students have to create a portfolio which explains the devising process.
Realisation Test : Students are given two pieces of stimulus material set by the exam board. In ten hours students have to devise practical piece which is shown in front of an external examiner. Students have to create short portfolio to explain the practical piece.
