Trinity has been presented with the "Award for Excellence" by the Independent Schools Council, in recognition of the School's growth, progress and significant development since its foundation in 1979, and its outstanding educational achievements. We have also been granted the "Investors in People award" from the British Government in recognition of our commitment to all our staff in terms of training, welfare and future improvement.
Trinity
was founded in 1979,and is an International Boarding and Day School for boys
and girls from 3 months - 19 years old, although the building had housed a
girl’s convent school under the Order of Notre Dame prior to this for
over seventy years.
In the School's short, but prestigious history, the number of day and boarding
pupils has risen from 220 in 1992 to over 630 (including the Nursery) in the year 2007. Our aim is
to maintain pupil numbers at this current level to ensure the same unique
atmosphere is maintained.
The reason for the success of the School is clear to anyone who visits and
sees the developments that have been carried out over a short period. These
developments, which have cost more than £5 million, include a new Design
Technology Centre
Additional classrooms and residential accommodation, which
were completed in September 2001, and a new 25m Swimming Pool and Indoor Tennis
Academy opened summer 2002.
Furthermore new classrooms, and boarding accommodation, complete with en-suite facilities, which were opened in May 1999. Previously in 1997 a new Science and Mathematical Resources Block was opened
and new Tennis Courts
and new hard surface sports and play areas were completed. Eight more new classrooms, a Learning Success Centre, a purpose built Art centre and new staff room were completed in July 2005
.
The Trinity Lodge Nursery, which caters for children from 3 months to 5 years old, remains as popular as ever, through the lively enthusiasm of its staff and effective leadership.
With a Sixth Form of approximately 100 students, an increasing range of advanced level options can be offered within another well-led Department, at the other end of the age spectrum.
Following major expenditure on the Senior Department in recent years, the Preparatory Department will, during the years ahead, receive an injection of cash for the purchase of new text books and other improvements to ensure that we keep abreast of changes in literacy and numeracy. Discussion is now underway to create larger classroom and cloakroom facilities, by developing Oakley Hall and other areas.
Considerable investment has also been made in staff, so that small classes can be maintained (our teacher: pupil ratio is 1:10), and in addition, there has been investment in the upgrading of existing facilities to ensure that the School can continue to run smoothly with the increased numbers.
Computers are updated regularly and Interactive white boards have been installed in both
the Senior
and Preparatory
Departments and new accommodation has been provided for the Sixth Form and Business Studies Department.
The academic and sporting results are continually improving. In the recent years, sporting success has included National Champions at swimming and the selection of a Trinity pupil to represent Great Britain in The Catholic Youth Games, at athletics, and another to represent the UK in the sport of fencing(sabre)in India and Seoul.
Future developments, at the planning stage, are for new classrooms and changing rooms in the Preparatory Departmentand a multi-purpose hall, for Sport Music and Drama
When considering your child's future you would be well advised to look at the facilities on offer at Trinity.
We are a charity and continue to reinvest in the school, as rapidly as possible, to ensure that the
existing pupils will benefit.
