10th March 2017
Teignmouth Thunderbirds Netball Club have partnered with Trinity School to become one of only 2 Satellite Community Netball Clubs in the region. Known as the TBirds, the club will train at Trinity School Tennis Academy from Wednesday 15th March onwards.
Satellite Clubs aim to increase sports participation in young people and encourage adult participation by making the transition from school group to community club easier, an initiative supported by Active Devon and England Netball. TBirds Juniors, established a year ago, have enjoyed a successful first season of competition in Torbay Junior League U14 division.
Sessions focus on the development of netball skills in young people (Year 7 and above), forming a pathway to the main TBirds Club. The Satellite Club is aimed at junior netball players in the area from all schools who enjoy netball and are ready for the next level of skill and competition.
Angela Rimmer Founder and Head Coach at Tbirds, comments, “TBirds Juniors have enjoyed a great first season in the Torbay Junior League and are looking forward to continuing to grow. The Club has received many requests to start junior sessions and so we'd like to use our good practices to engage with more young people in the wider community from our stunning base at Trinity School. ”
Henrietta Farr, Head of Games at Trinity School comments, “We’re excited about the prospect of working with TBirds to develop the abilities of our students and to support others in the local area. The School serves as a centre for excellence in a variety of sports and we’re keen to continue this legacy.''
TBirds juniors will offer netball sessions for local students in Year 7 – 10 at Trinity School on Wednesdays from 5.30-6.30pm during term time. For more information visit www.TBirdsNetball.Club
