Live Screening of Royal Shakespeare Company‘s ‘Two Gentlemen of Verona’ heralds new way of learning drama

4th December 2014

It was a really exciting and ground-breaking event, and it heralds a new way of learning for our GCSE and A level Drama students. For a while cinemas have been transmitting live screenings of lots of terrific theatre. First class productions which were once the preserve of those who lived within easy access of nation’s top theatres, are now accessible to a significantly wider audience, and at comparatively affordable prices. Live screenings now enable us all to enjoy dance, opera and plays from the National Theatre, the RSC and the Royal Opera House in most of our local cinemas.

The industry is now starting to realise that they can offer this exciting opportunity to schools, enabling students to watch live performances without travelling anywhere. And they are totally free!  We were recently given the opportunity to Live Stream a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company performing “Two Gentlemen of Verona” from Stratford upon Avon, straight to our school. This was a wonderful chance for Trinity to be at the forefront of a real breakthrough in arts and technology. We all enjoyed the performance tremendously and are looking forward to having this opportunity again. Fenella Cooke
