Our Prep pupils enjoyed another exciting day learning Life Skills.
Key Stage 2 pupils got into their houses for three brilliant activities including a times tables ‘Snakes and Ladders Challenge', preparing their acts for the Inter-House Music competition and a Mexico Festival experience, looking at the celebration of ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ by making masks and taking part in a quiz.
Reception and Key Stage 1 themed their day on 'keeping ourselves and others safe'. They began with an introduction from Mrs Birt, the school nurse, about what we can find inside a first aid kit, what they are used for and the key message that ‘we can all make a difference’. The children then moved off to take part in 3 very different workshops including role play in a hospital/surgery, learning their address and how to contact the emergency services, with some basic first aid techniques to help people that may have been burned, are choking or badly cut, and how to put somebody in the recovery position. The children all had a great deal of fun but most importantly took away a huge amount of skills that may be useful to them in the future. All staff involved were so pleased with the sensible manner that they approached the activities and was lovely to see them showing such care and empathy for one another. Some definite paramedics and nurses in the making!
