We are changing the way that homework is managed within Trinity Senior Department, and adopting a system which, we believe, will be appreciated by both students and parents.
We are using the start of the new term to introduce Show My Homework, a market-leading piece of software which helps students, teachers and parents in the tracking and monitoring of homework.
Show My Homework is a simple homework calendar. It is easy to use, allows ‘anytime, anywhere’ access, and gives students a clear picture of their homework commitments. It allows them to prioritise their workload and stay organised using a personalised calendar, a to-do list and email reminders. The experience of other schools already using the system is that students using SMH stay better organised, more in control, and improve their ability to hit deadlines.
For parents who wish to take a more active role in their children’s home learning, they can achieve this by having their own Show My Homework account. It enables them to take a more proactive role in driving homework prioritisation, and keeping tabs on homework without having to be intrusive.
Commenting on the idea behind the new scheme, Deputy Head and project leader Wendy Martin, is keen to focus on the benefits to all parties. ‘Pupils and parents will be able to access this from hand held devices or more traditional internet access routes. This means pupils no longer have the excuse of not knowing what homework has been set. We have found it simple to use even though it does have a great deal of functionality. It can also be used to upload worksheets or embed other resources, such YouTube videos for example.’
