Former student Peter Ingoldsby, who left Trinity only last summer, has been selected for the Canadian National Under 19's rugby team. He flew out to Canada with his father for their East Coast trials in November, and clearly impressed the selectors as his name was on the list when the team was announced last week.
The Canadian team is touring Wales in April this year and will be playing games against England (8th), Wales (12th) and Italy (16th).
Peter played for the school's first teams throughout his time at Trinity, aand indeed went on to represent Devon before joining Exeter Chiefs Academy last summer. His father Tom Ingoldsby is understandably proud. 'Pete's having a great year at Exeter,' he told us, 'and really enjoying his rugby. It's amazing to think the distance he's travelled (rugby and otherwise!) in just the last 6 months ....'
Peter made his ambition clear after the 2015 Rugby World Cup - to play for Canada in the 2019 tournament, which will be held in Japan. Selection for the Under 19 squad takes him one step nearer his goal. We congratulate him on this achievement and wish him continuing success in the future.
Peter is pictured above with another former Trinitonian, Lewis Jeffery, when they were on opposing sides during a recent Reg Brewer Cup under 21's rugby match between Brixham and Torquay.
