22nd January 2015
Giving Nation week is fast approaching. Monday 2nd to Friday 6th of February will see our Year 9 students taken off normal lessons to join in a whole week of enterprising projects aimed at serving others in different parts of our community.
As in previous years, our students are really looking forward to the Giving Nation week, keen to take on the various challenges which lay before them. This year sees a change of emphasis. Instead of raising cash to donate to charitable causes, the pupils will be spending the week directly working on a number of activities in conjunction with the local church, various charities, and a care home. In addition, the students will be building a pizza oven for and with our Prep department.
Commenting on the change, our Head of Key Stage 3, Mrs Gerry Davis said, ‘Giving Nation week is one of the highlights of our school year and this time we have altered the normal format to focus on volunteering. We hope that this will allow the students to be able to reflect at the end of the week on the importance of volunteering and helping others directly.’
