As a prelude to British Science Week, our newly formed Science Buskers took to the road for ‘gigs’ at a couple of local primary schools. Pupils from Our Lady St. Patrick Primary School and Chudleigh Primary School were treated to a range of interactive science-based activities, all of them led and demonstrated by our own students.
The buskers were kept extremely busy on both days. They worked in groups, presenting to up to 30 children at a time, having to hold their attention for quite long periods. Some of our younger team members from Years 4, 5, 6 and 7 really stepped up to the plate as they found themselves presenting to youngsters who were barely much younger than themselves. Yet they held their attention with great skill.
The primary school students all appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed their experience and we are sure it will have inspired a few of them to look at science differently, and hopefully it will have brought science on to their career radar as they progress through their school journey.
