Year 11 GCSE Business students gained valuable first-hand experience of the world of cycle retailing recently when they visited Partridge Cycles at their landmark superstore by the A38 at Kennford. The visit will help them understand their GCSE coursework case, which is based on a fictitious ‘new business setting up as a cycle retailer in your local area.’
As well as touring all departments of the business, including the workshop, stores and the shop floor, the students had the opportunity to interview one of the owners, Mr Alex Partridge, about a range of issues affecting cycle retailing. This proved to be the highlight of a very interesting and enjoyable local trip, which will certainly help the students as they prepare for their Controlled Assessment coursework, a practical project which will count 25% towards their final GCSE assessment.
